Don Droppo Honored By Newtown Rotary
Rotary Club of Newtown recently honored Don Droppo, the CEO of Curtis Packaging, with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award in appreciation of all the projects he has taken part in to help Newtown and the World Humanity.
For the Christmas Tree Lighting every December, Mr Droppo provides 3,000 luminaries (lighting bags) which Newtowners enjoy each year. Mr Droppo also helps to sponsor the Chamber of Commerce âBusiness After Hoursâ program, is a supporter of Newtown Rotary Golf Tournament fundraiser, is a co-sponsor of the Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, a supporter of Hospice in Newtown, and a supporter of the âPencils for Peaceâ program founded by Reed Intermediate School teacher Karen King.
When a school needed help for a poster board program, he supplied the poster boards at no cost. Mr Droppo also provides an annual $1,000 donation of New England Patriots luxury box seats for auction at the Annual Newtown Chamber of Commerce Dinner Dance, and collects and distributes hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens for the âWarm Hands â Warm Heartâ program.
Additionally, when Newtown Rotary required a fork lift to load pallets of books into a 40-foot steamer container destined for children of South Africa, Mr Droppo sent a fork lift and a driver and took care of it.
It was for all of these reasons and others that Rotary Newtown felt Mr Droppo and Curtis Packaging have become an integral part of the Newtown community and should be thanked for such efforts.
