Charges Stack Up In Alleged Prescription Caper
By John Voket
A Shelton man compounded charges against him, police said, after impersonating a physician to order prescription drugs at a Newtown pharmacy this week. According to the report, on September 16 the CVS drugstore on Queen Street received a call from Timothy Bagley, 42, of Pawtucket Avenue, Shelton, claiming to be a doctor calling in an order for a patient.
Police say Mr Bagley subsequently showed up at the Newtown store to pick up the order that day around 1:30 pm, and informed the pharmacy staff that he was recently robbed of his wallet, so he could not produce identification to obtain the drugs. This aroused the suspicion of store personnel who notified Newtown police.
The accused was charged with two counts of making a false report in the second degree, interfering with an officer, use of false title, criminal impersonation, obtaining drugs by fraud, and possession of narcotics.
He was held on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on the raft of charges October 2.
