Chapel Windows Blessing & Dedication Planned At Wisdom House

LITCHFIELD —The public is invited Sunday, September 23, at 2 pm, to Wisdom House Retreat and Conference Center for the blessing and dedication of its new chapel windows.

The series of nine 15- by 4-foot windows is titled, “In Sophia’s Garden.” The windows were designed by Hugh O’Donnell of Washington, Conn., a professor of painting at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts.

Musicians David Darling and Thomasina Levy will provide the musical setting for the celebration. Mr O’Donnell will describe the process he used to create the unique series.

His work is held in private and public collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art in New York, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; The Aldrich Museum, Ridgefield; Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and Yokohama Museum of Art, Japan.

The two-year project was supervised by Clifford Cooper of Clifford A. Cooper AIA Architecture of Litchfield.

A reception will follow the ceremony. Those interested in attending are asked to call Wisdom House at 860-567-3163, send e-mail to programs@WisdomHouse.org, or visit WisdomHouse.org. Wisdom House is at 229 East Litchfield Road, which is off Route 118.
