Danbury Hospital To Sponsor Family Health & Safety Fair
DANBURY â A Danbury Hospital-sponsored Family Health and Safety Fair will take place at the Danbury Fair Mall on Friday and Saturday, October 6 and 7. The fair will be conducted on the lower level of the Danbury Fair Mall from noon to 8 pm both days.
The free Danbury Hospital Family Health and Safety Fair will offer screening information and promote early detection during October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Mall-goers are encouraged to stop at the Radiology and Praxair Cancer Center exhibits where they can receive reduced fee mammography screening coupons as well as educational materials on breast, lung, and colon cancer. Additionally mall shoppers and community residents are encouraged to stop by the American Cancer Society booth and learn about their smoke-free New England initiative.
Other Danbury Hospital/Danbury Health Systems programs and services on exhibit at the Danbury Hospital Family Health and Safety Fair are the Danbury Visiting Nurse Association, Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, Inc., Vascular Health Center, Pulmonary/Respiratory Services and Sleep Disorders Center, blood pressure screening, cardiac risk factor analysis, and ergonomics and proper body mechanics provided by the physical medicine and rehabilitation staff.
The hospitalâs Family Birth Center staff will be available at the two-day event to address questions about newborn and infant care, breastfeeding, formula feeding, the Danbury Hospital doula program, and to provide help regarding health and wellness information for women who are expecting or planning to have a baby. Danbury Hospitalâs dietary/nutritional services staff will be on hand to offer advice and counseling about good nutrition and healthy eating. For kids, stop by the City of Danbury Emergency Medical Services (EMS) booth and take a tour of the inside of an EMS vehicle.
Partnering with Danbury Hospital to advance the health and well-being of the people in our community will be the American Cancer Society, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, City of Danbury Health Department â HIV Prevention Program, City of Danbury Emergency Medical Services, and Family Footcare, PC.
