Richard Zuvich of Bethel, 70, has set a personal goal of running 1,000 races and said the Run 4 Hunger marked number 993; he finished the course in 36:56. Instead of a traditional children’s race there was an obstacle course for the youngest participants.

The race, hosted by the Newtown Knights of Columbus, benefits Newtown Youth & Family Services and FAITH Food Pantry. Registration included donations of canned goods.
