Police are seeking information from the public regarding what was reported to them as “suspicious activity” occurring at the Dickinson Park playground at about 7 pm on Sunday, September 16, according to police spokesman Lieutenant Aaron Bahamonde.

Lt Bahamonde said police received a report that a well-dressed white man of thin build, who appeared to be in his mid-40s, was with a child at the playground. The man, who has salt-and-pepper hair, spoke to some other children there, Lt Bahamonde said.

The man then abruptly left the playground with the child. The lieutenant said the man was driving a red SUV, which may have been a Ford Flex or a Subaru Forester.

Amy Mangold, director of Parks and Recreation, said, “We have had a wonderful summer at the park with no concerns or complaints of suspicious (activity)... But it is important for individuals to report something they consider suspicious.”

Ms Mangold added that its is important for parents to keep on a close eye on their children for their children’s safety. Parents should counsel their children about safe behavior, she added.

Lt Bahamonde said that the man’s interaction with children at the playground was considered “suspicious” by the person who reported the incident, so police are investigating the matter. Patrol Officer Robert Haas is the investigator. Police may be reached at 203-426-5841.
