Family Bikes, Boards, And Blades Set This Weekend
Newtown Youth Services will hold Family Bikes, Boards, and Blades Day on Sunday, September 24, from noon to 3 pm. Check-in, from noon until 2 pm, will take place at Fairfield Hills near the former Library parking lot. There are four different bike routes, from beginner to advanced, with an area for rollerblading, skateboarding, and scooters. There will be free food stops along the way with items donated by Bagelman, Blue Jay Orchards, Grand Union, Big Y, Dannon/Evian water, and Dunkin Donuts.
The registration fee is $7 for adults and $5 for youths 13 and under. All participants will receive a prize. In addition, there will be a raffle with prizes donated by TC Cycle, Bethel Cycle, Ski Market, Monroe Cycle Fitness, Donâs Cycle in Fairfield, and Duracell. Tickets are $1 each or seven for $5. There will also be a bicycle safety check-in from the Bicycle Goodie Shop of Bethel. State Law requires that children under 16 wear bike helmets (for safety purposes, we require all participants up to age 18 to wear bike/skate helmets.
