To the Editor:

I write the following in support of reelecting Congresswoman Jahana Hayes. Often our public officials go about their business without fanfare for what they accomplish for their constituents. I believe that is the case for our Congresswoman for the 5th congressional district. A three-term incumbent, going for her fourth term, Congresswoman Hayes has worked well with our Connecticut delegation to D.C. and has effectively represented our district. We have benefitted from her hard work at the Capitol, although her work has been understated in terms of praise.

Some of what Congresswoman Hayes has accomplished:

Voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which brought nearly $6B to the State of CT for improvements to highways, bridges, roads, water systems & broadband projects including completion of the Rochambeau Bridge on I-84 between Newtown & Southbury

Voted for the American Rescue Plan Act, which brought $558M to our district to address economic and educational recovery after the pandemic — Newtown Public Schools received $8.2M in municipal recovery funds and $1.7M in local education funds

Selected 39 community projects totaling $60M+ in federal funding since 2022 including surface paving & improvements at Fairfield Hills Campus in Newtown for $480K

Jahana Hayes has been doing the heavy lifting and delivered for our state, district and town. In supporting her we support a tried and tested representative in D.C. I believe that she has earned our gratitude as her constituents and our votes on November 5.
