To the Editor:

In his letter to The Bee dated September 12, 2024 entitled, “Complicity Is the Moral Decline of the Local Republican Party,” Brian Hartgraves boorishly claims a monopoly of virtue while rebuking the “town republicans.” That he did with an illogical suggestion that (roughly half the voting public in Newtown) are lacking in patriotism, morality, and credibility. Furthermore he impugns the reputation of three meritorious public servants who seek re-election to the state Legislative body. Personally I am most wary of intelligent individuals who eloquently overgeneralize and tarnish others in a manner so cunningly divisive to our community.
