Hawk Swimmers Top Falcons, Come Close Against Brookfield
Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team began the season with a 96-85 win over visiting Joel Barlow of Redding on September 12, then came up a little short in a 96-88 setback to Brookfield, in another home meet, on September 17.
Against Barlow, Newtown put the meet out of reach before exhibitioning the final two events. Newtown’s top placements in each event are as follows:

After the loss to Brookfield, Newtown Coach Zach Gauvin had high praise for his team.
“I thought the girls swam unbelievably well for the second meet of the season. We had a bunch of swimmers already achieve personal bests and I hope that this great start sets the tone for the rest of the dual meet season,” Gauvin said.
