WOODWARD, Pennsylvania â Jacob Siwik-Enriquez, 9, of Newtown, has been piling up the BMX hardware this summer.
Jacob captured the national title in the 9-year-old Expert class in Louisville, Kentucky back on August 30 and September 1 and won his second consecutive Connecticut state championship last weekend at Indian Ledge State Park in Trumbull.
And now he is heading to the Regionals in Woodward, Pennsylvania this weekend.
Jacob puts in long hours of practice and races competitively at the four tracks in Connecticut ⦠Bethel Supercross being his favorite. He has been racing locally for three years and nationally for one year and his future goals include attending the BMX World Championship being held in Holland next July.
But his long-term goal is to participate in the Olympics, which is adding BMX Racing to its event program beginning with the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, China. Of course, Jacob will be too young for that one (it requires a minimum age of 19), but that just means he has more time to perfect his skills.
