Seeking Answers About 9/11
Seeking Answers About 9/11
To the Editor:
On Wednesday, September 24, at 8 pm at the Newtown Meeting House on Main Street, there will be a follow-up meeting to the 9/11 discussion held there on September 11, 2003. All area residents are invited to attend this public gathering.
The meeting will begin with a 15-minute video clip of a segment that aired on PBS September 13. The report details the efforts of four 9/11 widows whose work led to the creation of the Independent 9/11 Commission. The four mothers and other 9/11 families are seeking answers to questions about 9/11 that they say remain unanswered. These questions may be found at www.pbs.org, at the page for the show called âNow.â
The meeting will continue with the reading of a proposed resolution voicing support for changes in the mandate of the 9/11 Commission so as to provide for the type of investigation the four mothers and some other 9/11 families wish to see. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to sign the resolution. If such a resolution is appropriate for consideration by the Legislative Council, it may be forwarded to them accompanied by 80 signatures to place it on the councilâs agenda in October.
The evening will also include open discussion. It is hoped that a broad spectrum of views and insights will shed light on these issues. The Newtown Meeting House is located adjacent to the flagpole at the intersection of Main Street and Church Hill Road. Residents are welcome to bring food or drink to be enjoyed downstairs only.
Sincerely,
James Allen
