At Sacred Heart University
FAIRFIELD â Sacred Heart University recently commemorated the upcoming construction of three new residence halls in an official ceremony attended by school trustees, administration, faculty, and students.
The three-story, three-building complex, set to rise at 5252 Park Avenue, will officially be opened in September 2004 to more than 400 students. Each of the buildings will contain 12 suites, with six bedrooms housing approximately 12 students. Each suite will include a living area, study lounge, kitchen, and two bathrooms. In addition, the buildings will have wireless network connectivity (Wi-Fi) capability. The building closest to Park Avenue will have a full basement featuring a fitness center, cyber café, and storage area.
Following the blessing of the site by the Rev Andrew Garavel, SJ, Campus Minister Joseph D Roxe, and Christopher K McLeod, members of the Universityâs Board of Trustees, assisted President Anthony Cernera, PhD, in the ceremonial turning of the soil.
Resident Assistants Meghan Dodd and Charles Sousa, along with Student Government President Guy Savage, represented Sacred Heartâs student body and also took place in the ceremony.
