Don’t Wait: Take Action On Drugs

To the Editor:

Good luck to two wonderful, selfless ladies, Dorrie Carolan and Donna DeLucca!

Their self-imposed task of making Newtown aware of substance abuse among our youth is daunting. Hopefully, a substantial number of Newtowners will join their group, the Parent Connection, and have a lasting effect on their declared war on drugs. Dorrie and Donna refuse to bury their heads in the sand, as unfortunately, so many adults do when it comes to the subject of drug use in our schools.

It is so important that each and every parent realize that all children, no matter their scholastic and/or athletic achievements, may be potential drug abusers. They almost will be targets of drug traffickers at some point in time. Don’t wait for your child to become involved with drugs to take action. There is so much you can do now to prevent your children from moving down the wrong path. I encourage all parents to get involved in the Parent Connection.
