Daniel L. Staib

Daniel Lewis Staib, age 86, of Milwaukee Avenue, Bethel, died at Danbury Hospital on September 12. He was the devoted husband of Veronica (Ginty) Staib.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by two daughters, Eleanor M. Staib of Newtown and Kathryn S. Grosberg of Harwich, Mass.; one brother, Richard A. Staib of Wilmington, Del.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr Staib was born in Bethel, October 13, 1916, a son of the late Edward A. and Bertha (Trimpert) Staib. He was a lifelong resident of Bethel and served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He was a self-employed carpenter and builder in the Bethel area all his life, and for many years worked with his late brother Edward, doing business as Staib Brothers, Inc. He was a member of the Bethel American Legion and for many years played in the Bethel Bocci League.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Mary’s Church, Bethel, September 15. Burial was in St Mary’s Cemetery, Bethel.
