Sunday, September 21 – The Middlebury Bridle Land Association Fall Hunter Pace will be held on Sunday, September 21, at Larkin Farm on South Street in Middlebury. Lunch is included. Pre-payment and pre-registration are required. Call Shawnalee Kwashnak at 598-0065 for further information.

Sunday, October 5 – The Lewisboro Horseman’s Association Fall Country Pace will be held Sunday, October 5, from 8 am to 12 noon, at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, New York. Buffet lunch (included) will be from 11 am to 2 pm. Pre-registration and payment required. For further information, call 1-914-763-9193.

Sunday, October 12 – The Greenwich Riding and Trails Association will hold its Fall Pace on Sunday, October 12, 8 am to 12 noon, at the Hughes/Wonham Field in Greenwich. Lunch will be at 12:30 pm and ribbons will be awarded when all riders are in. There will be Hunt, Pleasure, Junior and Western Divisions. Sunday, October 26 – The Newtown Bridle Lands Association will hold its Frost on the Pumpkin Pace on Sunday, October 26, 8 am to 12 noon, at Mount Nebo Road. A buffet lunch will be held from 11 am to 2 pm. Entries close on October 22, or when pace is full. Early registrations are recommended. Sunday, September 21 – The Old Chatham Hunt Club Pace will be held Sunday, September 21, from 9 am to 1 pm, at the Old Chatham Sheepherding Company on Shaker Museum Road in Old Chatham, New York. Trophy points will earned with coolers and ribbons presented to winners. Adult and junior divisions. Cost is $50 for adult members ($70 for non-members) and $25 for junior members ($35 for non-members). Contact Susan Smith at 1-518-733-9476.

Sunday, September 28 – The Fairfield County Hounds Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, September 28, starting at 10 am, on Curtis Road in Bridgewater. Cost is $50 for adult members ($70 for non-member) and $20 for juniors. Contact Gigi Haber at 1-203-255-2522.

Sunday, October 19 – The Rombout Hunt Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 19, at Gone Away Farm South, 11 Browning Road, Hyde Park, New York. Formal hunting or show attire with helmets. Sunday, October 26 – The Windy Hollow Hunt Pace will be held Sunday, October 26, 10 am to 1 pm,  at Coal Tree Farm in West Town, New York. Formal attire. Horse Shows/Hunter Paces

 

Saturday, September 20 – Cricker Brook Farm in Monroe will hold a Schooling Show on Saturday, September 20. Classes will include Leadline, Walk/Trot, Beginner, Pleasure Hunter, Jumper and Equitation. High Point Trainer Award will be presented. For further information, call 268-6676.

Sunday, September 21 – St. Peter’s Church in Cheshire will hold its 29th annual Charity Horse Show on Sunday, September 21, at the Old Bethany Airport on Route 63 in Bethany. Buck Kalinowski of Wolcott, author of the children’s books Cupid’s Secret and Arrow’s Adventures, will make a guest appearance. Some 125 competitors from across Connecticut and neighboring states will battle for 44 different championships. All profits benefit outreach projects in Cheshire and surround communities (during the past 19 years, more than $118,000 has been donated to various organizations). The show is recognized by the Connecticut Horse Shows Association, the Arabian Horse Club of Connecticut,a nd the Connecticut Morgan Horse Association. The show will begin at 8 am rain or shine and continue throughout the day. Donation is $3 with children under 10 admitted free. Call 1-203-272-0142 for further information.

Sunday, November 9 – The Woodbury FFA will host its annual Hunter Pace on Sunday, November 9,. The event is open to teams of riders and is designed to simulate a traditional foxhunt. All proceeeds will benefit the Woodbury FFA, a national agricultural youth leadership organization associated with the Agri-Science program at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury. There will be Hack (slower) and Hunt (faster) divisions that will be divided into junior and senior entries. Cost is $50 for seniors and $40 for juniors under 18. Special awards for Best Matched Pair, Turtle Team, Youngest Rider, Family Award, and highest-placing 4-H, FFA and Pony Club teams will be presented. Dog Show

 

Sunday, September 21 – The Northwestern Connecticut Dog Club will hold its 58th annual American Kennel Club-sanctioned all breed dog show and obedience trial on Sunday, September 21, at the Goshen Fairgrounds on Route 63 in Goshen. Breed judging will start at 8 am, with the Best in Show competition to follow later in the afternoon. Nearly 1,300 dogs are entered. Dr Anthony DiNardo will be judging Best in Show.
