Tovah Martin At Glebe House

WOODBURY — The public is invited to meet the acclaimed garden writer Tovah Martin at the Glebe House Museum and Gertrude Jekyll Garden on Sunday, September 30, at 3 pm. Ms Martin will be signing copies of her most recent book, A Time to Blossom… Mothers, Daughters and Flowers.

The new release is both a personal testament to a child’s introduction to gardening and flowers and an idea book filled with practical instructions for activities such as hollyhock dolls, garland making, pressing pansies, forcing bulbs, and drying flowers. Photographer Richard Brown has reunited with Ms Martin to create a beautiful and evocative book.

In addition to signing her books, Mr Martin will do a participatory demonstration of garland making and hand held bouquets for children and their parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, or for anyone with an interest in finding ways to bring the beauty of flowers into their lives.

Admission to this event is free. Copies of the book will be available for sale, and refreshments will be served.

Ms Martin is the author of numerous books on plants and gardens, including Tasha Tudor’s Garden, which won the highest award from the Garden Writers Association of America. She also holds the gold medal for horticulture from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society.

The house museum and garden, on Hollow Road, can be contacted by calling 203-263-2855.
