Brazilian Music For Family Day

DANBURY — Connecticut Family Day will be celebrated by the Danbury Library, in conjunction with Mill Ridge School and Family Resource Center, on Saturday, September 29, from noon to 2 pm, on the Danbury Library outdoor plaza.

Brazil has been September’s featured country. Along with displays of materials about Brazil, the Danbury Library Junior Services Department will host a Family Day program of “Samba on the Plaza.” Special crafts and face painting for children ages 4 to 10 will begin at noon.

From 1 to 2 the four-member musical group Samba Brasil will bring lively Brazilian beats to the plaza for the enjoyment of families and friends.  Since 1994, Samba Brasil has entertained audiences throughout New England with fresh variations on the samba, the national dance of Brazil. Singer Catalina, a Sao Paulo native sings in English and Portuguese.

Brazilian lunch goodies and desserts will be sold. The event is free and open to all. In the event of rain, the event will be held in the Junior Services Department. For more information call 797-4528. The library is at 170 Main Street, on the corner of West Street.
