‘Octogala’ Concert At

Roxbury Church

ROXBURY — Classic Connecticut Concerts will present The First Great American Octette Concert-Connecticut — dubbed “Octogala” by New York Times musicologist Robert Sherman — in Roxbury’s Congregational Church at 8:08 pm on Sunday, October 8.

The unique concept of Octogala, which employs variations on the number eight, is a performance of the Felix Mendelssohn Octette (perhaps the most famous string octette ever written) on the eighth day of the month at 8:08 pm for an admission charge of $8.

The work will be complimented by a lead-in performance of Johannes Brahms’ tune-filled Piano Trio in B, Op 8.

Classic Connecticut Concerts is an organization founded and directed by concert cellist Thirzah Bendokas, who will perform both the String Octette and Piano Trio.

The concert will be followed by a reception to meet the artists, during which 8 O’Clock Coffee and After-Eight Mints will be served (along with other refreshments).

Additional information, ticket reservations for the concert and purchase of “patron” tickets can be made by calling 203/729-5738. Tickets will also be available at the church door prior to the performance.
