Art Lovers’ Lunch: Stimulation For Mind & Palate

WATERBURY — Stimulation for the mind and palate is always on the menu during Mattatuck Museum’s “Art Lovers’ Lunch” series. Participants begin each bi-monthly program by joining others who appreciate fine art for a discussion concerning one particular piece from the museum’s collection led by assistant curator Raechel Guest, then head to the museum’s Exhibition Café to enjoy a culinary work of art.

Art Lovers’ Lunches are held every other Friday at the museum, 144 West Main Street, from noon to 1 pm. When guests arrive at the museum, they place their lunch order at the Café, and then proceed to the art gallery for the discussion. Lunch is ready for participants when they return to the Café following Ms Guest’s discussion.

The “Art Lovers’ Lunch” fall schedule continues on the following dates, with the works of art being discussed indicated after each date: September 29, Arshile Gorky, “Pirate I”; October 13, Josef Albers, “Kinetic (I)”; and October 27, George Marinko, “Sirius.”

Also, November 10, Jasper Cropsey, “Autumn Landscape”; November 17, J. Alden Weir, “Connecticut Hillside” and “Young Girl”; and December 8, Ernest Roth, “Winter Day.”

Suggested donation for the discussion is $5, with the cost of lunch the responsibility of each participant. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling the museum at 203/753-0381, extension 15.
