Art Lovers' Lunch: Stimulation For Mind & Palate
Art Loversâ Lunch: Stimulation For Mind & Palate
WATERBURY â Stimulation for the mind and palate is always on the menu during Mattatuck Museumâs âArt Loversâ Lunchâ series. Participants begin each bi-monthly program by joining others who appreciate fine art for a discussion concerning one particular piece from the museumâs collection led by assistant curator Raechel Guest, then head to the museumâs Exhibition Café to enjoy a culinary work of art.
Art Loversâ Lunches are held every other Friday at the museum, 144 West Main Street, from noon to 1 pm. When guests arrive at the museum, they place their lunch order at the Café, and then proceed to the art gallery for the discussion. Lunch is ready for participants when they return to the Café following Ms Guestâs discussion.
The âArt Loversâ Lunchâ fall schedule continues on the following dates, with the works of art being discussed indicated after each date: September 29, Arshile Gorky, âPirate Iâ; October 13, Josef Albers, âKinetic (I)â; and October 27, George Marinko, âSirius.â
Also, November 10, Jasper Cropsey, âAutumn Landscapeâ; November 17, J. Alden Weir, âConnecticut Hillsideâ and âYoung Girlâ; and December 8, Ernest Roth, âWinter Day.â
Suggested donation for the discussion is $5, with the cost of lunch the responsibility of each participant. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling the museum at 203/753-0381, extension 15.
