A One-Woman Show
For Carol Reilley
WOODBURY â An exciting fall season is anticipated this year by The Fine Line Art Gallery. The gallery starts its fall season by featuring artist Carol Reilley in a major show of her current work in watercolor and oils.
Florals and landscapes from around the world will be the focus of the show. Mrs Reilley paints year round in her Newtown studio and takes inspiration from travelling constantly.
âNature interests me, from the nationâs national parks to the lush tropics of faraway islands,â says the artist. âA trip to ancient Greece this spring started a new series of painting for me.
âI paint with a sense of mystery,â she continued. âA painting should never tell you everything; leave a little mystery to unfold as the viewer studies the composition. I achieve that look by relying on wet-into-wet watercolor and a creative glazing technique in oil.â
Prior to painting full-time, Mrs Reilley spent twenty years as a vice president of Ethan Allen Inc. She used her education in color and designs to train thousands of designers for the company. Now she turns that knowledge of color and designs to painting.
Mrs Reilleyâs one-woman show will be at The Fine Line Gallery from September 28 through October 29. A special artistâs reception, open to the public, is planned for Saturday, October 7, from 3 to 7 pm. Live jazz will be featured with saxophone, flute and piano.
The Fine Line Gallery is at 682 Main Street South (second floor), within Sherman Village and at the junction of Routes 6 and 64. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm. Call 426-8757 for more information.
