When Free Costs A Dollar

To the Editor:

I had a question concerning the Newtown Labor Day Parade.

Can anyone tell me why if you got a parade program from the various people walking around handing them out they were free, but if you got one from one of the Newtown High School girls selling water out of a shopping cart, you had to pay a dollar for it?

I am sure that I already know the answer, and I hope that young lady sleeps well at night with a clear conscience.  She certainly set a poor example for all of the young women legitimately selling products for fundraising for Newtown High School sports teams.

However, I’ll think twice before I hand over any of my hard-earned money to a young lady pushing a shopping cart in future Newtown parades.

Sincerely,

Joanne Brunetti
