 ‘Blue Ribbon School’

The United States Department of Education announced on Tuesday, September 15, that St Rose of Lima School was one of five Catholic Elementary Schools of the Diocese of Bridgeport to be named “2009 Blue Ribbon Schools.”

 Only 314 elementary schools — public and private — in the United States have received this honor, including only eight this year in the State of Connecticut. This is the highest national honor that a school can receive.

 With five 2009 Blue Ribbon Schools, the Diocese of Bridgeport has captured ten percent of the 50 private school Blue Ribbon awards nationwide. The five 2009 Blue Ribbon Schools of the diocese are the only Catholic schools honored in Connecticut.

Other 2009 Blue Ribbon Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Bridgeport are Greenwich Catholic School in Greenwich, Our Lady of Fatima School in Wilton, Saint Cecilia School in Stamford and Saint Mark School in Stratford.
