U8
Fighting Eagles 4, Wildcats 2: The Wildcats were led on offense by Sarah Widmann who scored 2 goals. Jacquelyn Matthews and Lindsey Gallagher played strong all around games while Corrin Bottom and Colleen Phaneuf played well in goal. Katie Sailer and Simone both had two goals for the Fighting Eagles. Nathalie Schickendantz kept the offense going and Maggie Sheridan and Megan Riccardi anchored a stout defense.
Team Four 2, Team Seven 1: Despite the lack of team practices this week due to rain, the players on these squads played with teamwork and grace. Sage Karp scored a goal for Team Seven. Briana Castellano, Emma DaSilva and Sadie Dauber also played well in defeat. For the victors, Kristen Cirone netted two goals on assists from Lauren Adams and Lindsay Merrifield, while Carolina Stubbs shined in the midfield.
Fighting Irish 4, Nails 2: For the Fighting Irish, Jenna Lavelle (2), Alison Kelleher, and Shannon Jackman all scored goals. Jillian Carino played an outstanding game defensively. Ally Tolson and Carly Sweirbut scored for the Nails and Isabella Manfredi and Julia Klein were outstanding in the field.

Animals 5, American Eagles 1: For the Animals, goals were scored by Olivia Bellagamba, Taylor Pare, Allie Indelicato and Zoe Ivan. MacKenzie Macchiarulo and Laura Elkins combined for 11 saves in goal. For the American Eagles, Julia Doyle scored on a great pass from Rachel Tomasino. Caroline Viselli anchored the teamâs strong defensive effort and Olivia Hage played a great all-around game.
Team Four 2, Dynamite Desserts 1: Dynamite Desserts was strong in the second half with a goal by Julia Haskins and strong offensive plays by Mallory Lobuglio leading the way. Katie Bassett showed no fear during her first soccer game. Sydney Johnson made numerous strong defensive plays.
Newtown Breeze 3, Wilton 1: The Newtown Breeze won their opening game in the Southwest District with a 3-1 win over Wilton. Sarah Houle and Samantha Crespo each scored one goal in the first half. Jessica Maturo added the third goal in the second half to secure the win. Cassidy Kortze and Marcella Dailey assisted on offense, while Jacklin Gouveia and Greta Staubly powered the defense for Newtown.
Team Six 3, Team Five 2: Haley Taylor and Lauren Carrino found the back of the net for Team Five, while Sarah Simonson and Jordan Williams defended the goal. For Team Six, Bella Jiminez opened the scoring, Megan Goyda added two goals, Grace Corcoran swarmed on defense, and Holly LoCascio defended the net.
Wolverines 2, Dynamite 1: The Wolverinesâ goals scored by Sarah McMullan and Rebecca Gavel Anna Steare was strong in the goal in the second half.

Rangers 4, Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center 0: Stefanie Carr continues to be unstoppable on offense, scoring 3 goals for the Rangers for the second game in a row. Mia Katsuleres also dribbled around OGRCCâs defenders to put one in the net for Newtown. Emily Neave and Kendra Dunnigan applied pressure to keep Newtown in scoring position throughout the game.
U12
Newtown Comets 1, New Canaan 0: Casey Harkins and Anna Biondi both got a piece of the ball for the only score, set up by a cross by Kim Brello. Alyssa Ruefenacht and Emily Charash both made game- saving stops in goal to preserve the victory. Haley Trudell and Katie Mossbarger controlled the ball and fed the offense while Julia Schoeni was a force on defense.
U13
Lightning 1, Greenwich 1: Sarah Lynch sparked the offense, scoring the Lightningâs only goal midway through the first half. Amy Martinelli helped keep up the offensive pressure in the second period. Dale Shearin had a standout game on defense, and Shelby Tolla provided strong midfield support. Keepers Kate Fallon and Jesse Sailer played tough and made some good saves in goal.  Â

Team Two 4, Team One 2: Team Two had a great win in the first game of the season with goals from Jessi Principi, Haley Williams, Samantha Dion and Katie Laaksonen. Haley Conrad was solid in net and Vickie Teixeira had a great game. Team One fought back in the second half with goals from Emma Lardner and Zoe Brodsky. Elizabeth Wojcik, Carly Grossano and Molly Begg all had strong performances.

U10
Team Two 6, Team Four 5: For Team Two, Robert DiSibio led the way with 3 goals, Layton Harrell had 2 goals, and Andrew Janco had one. Assists were provided by Harry Eppers, Kai Toomey and Nathan Torre-Tasso. RH Clark and Tommy Phaneuf played in goal and had many saves including some at close range. For Team Four, Kevin Arther had 2 goals and 3 assists. Ethan Cox was also great up front with 3 goals on as many shots. Austin Smith and Christopher Russo were strong on offense. On defense, Riley Burns and Tom Majlinger were strong.
Net Rippers 7, Fairfield 2:Â Matt Gerbo was unstoppable with a whopping four goals. Brendan OâHara put in two of his own, and Nick Harper drilled in another. The dynamic duo of Connor Barrett and Hunter Procaccini were brick walls on defense, while the goal was guarded by monster goalies Silas Decker and Gerbo. Ryan Brello and Adam Bergeron also contributed strong efforts in the win.
U11
Newtown 5, Wilton 0: Newtownâs offense kept the opposing players on their toes early and often with repeated drives to the Wilton goal scoring early on a Richard Ciamarra header. Hayes Kelchner blasted in a corner shot to close out the first half. The second half was filled with more Newtown, and newcomer Nathan Augenbraun led the way with two scoring drives, one on a header and the other a quick shot after powering through the Wilton defense. Austin Engler added a scoring blast midway through the half to close out the Newtown scoring. Owen Samson, Thomas Leuci and Shane Gattey made deft passes to assist in Newtownâs victory. hysical defensive play by Jamie Cochrane, Forest Weatherby and Jack Riley shut down the Wilton offense for the entire game.Â

Newtown Strikers 6, Stamford Hurricanes 2: Josh Houle and Cole Rogalin each scored two goals apiece to lift Newtown over the Hurricanes. Albert Dean and Spencer Tolson each netted a goal for the Strikers. Ryan Kiss and Jacob Harper were key to the offense, while Alex Gerbo led the team defensively.
U14
Hot Pockets 6, Team Four 2: Tim Vander Have and Nick Genovese scored for Team Four. Goalie Chris Morlock did a great job in defeat, Sam Cox was great with ball handling, Matt Barra was excellent on defense, and Alister Sore and Sinclair Sore did a great job on offense. The Hot Pockets were led by Tim Kelly and Ian Lew, each of whom scored twice, and Korey Brodsky and Carter Nordman. Travis Hanna was amazing on defense, and Josh Tuffy played a strong, solid midfield.
Roma 4, Man U2 2: For Roma, Matthew Janco scored 2 goals and had 2 assists, Tony Leonardi scored 2 goals and had 1 assist, Lukas and Dillon Palumbo played well in goal and John Narducci played well in the field. For Man U2, Miguel Rodriquez scored one goal, assisted by Akash Ahuja and Matthew Wood scored one goal.
Flying Cobras 3 Team Five 1: The Flying Cobrasâ offense was led by Michael Biancardi with 1 goal and an assist and goals by Jake Moore and Michael Stierle. Stierle and George Ferris made great saves in goal. The defense was anchored by Danny Cummings and Dan Toby with superb midfield play by James Wilkie and Brad Kretz aiding the cause. Team Five had a goal by John Bienkowski. Mark Urso, Chris Rovelli, John Rovelli and David Csordas all played well. Goalkeeper Kyle Watkins and the defense, led by Dylan Solano and Lucas LaDestro, played a great game keeping the game.
