Phyllis Bulkeley (Cornut) Clairmont, 79, formerly of Newtown, died August 15, in Fort Myers, Fla. Mrs Clairmont was born in Bridgeport, October 27, 1929, to Dorothy (Peck) and James Edward Bulkeley.
 She was raised in Monroe, graduated from Northfield Academy for Girls, and attended Keuka College in New York. She married William Albert Cornut in 1951, and together they had two children. They moved to Newtown in 1958. Mr Cornut predeceased her.
Mrs (Cornut) Clairmont worked as manager of the Hawley Manor Inn in Newtown for nearly 15 years before becoming co-owner with Al Roy in 1965. They sold the Hawley Manor in 1970.
She was remarried in 1978 to Robert J. Clairmont and they lived in Derby before they relocated to Fort Myers in 1984.
Mrs Clairmont loved spending time with her friends, playing bridge, and working crossword puzzles. She had a passion for travel, the theater, the beach, and the wildlife of Florida.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Cornut) Krueger of Newnan, Ga.; and son, Mark Cornut of Derby; a brother; a sister; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and their children; and many dear friends. Her husband, Robert J. Clairmont, predeceased her.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral services. A remembrance ceremony will take place at a time and place yet to be determined.
