Apple Festival Returning To South Britain Church Grounds

SOUTH BRITAIN — The 2009 South Britain Congregational Church Apple Festival will return to the church, on Route 172 at the corner of East Flat Hill Road, on Saturday, September 19, from 10 am until 3 pm.

Apples and chrysanthemums will be available for purchase, guests can also take chances on Pick-A-Prize, and many booths of craftspeople and artisans will be set up.

Church members will have spent Friday baking apple pies to sell, along with a variety of other baked goods. Throughout the day, Johnny Appleseed will mingle with the crowds, and at 11 am The Bristol Old-Tyme Country Fiddlers will in the church’s meeting house.

In addition to the baked goods, items available for sale will include handmade items, used books and videos, gently used jewelry and fashion accessories, white elephant bargains and golden elephant treasures. Kid’s World will have special delights for young browsers.

A snack bar will be open throughout the day and beginning at 11 am, lunch will be available in the Gathering Room of the Parish House.
