Susan Lynn Welsh

Susan Lynn Welsh, 43, of Stamford, died on September 12 at Norwalk Hospital of cancer, which she fought for 16 years.

She is survived by a sister, Jane W. Glander; a niece, Christine Glander; and two nephews, Jason Glander and Matthew Glander, all of Newtown.

Born in Winthrope, Mass., May 5, 1958, she was the daughter of Alice (Lapinsky) Welsh of Stamford and the late Walter Welsh. She was a Stamford resident most of her life. She was a 1976 graduate of Catholic High School of Stamford and the University of Connecticut in 1980, earning her bachelor of art degree, and then earned her master’s degree from New York University in 1982.

She was an administrator of substance abuse for White Plains Hospital and Yonkers General Hospital for 20 years.

In addition to her mother, sister, niece, and nephews, survivors include a brother, Walter J. Welsh, Jr., of Pompano Beach, Fla.; three uncles; two aunts; and many cousins.

A memorial mass will be held on October 11 at 11 am at St Bridget of Ireland Roman Catholic Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford. Interment was private.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Norwalk Cancer Center, c/o Norwalk Hospital, Maple Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.

The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford is handling the arrangements.
