 New Works At Beaux Arts
WOODBURY â Beaux Arts Gallery will exhibit the works of the talented painters Virginia Zimmermann and Patricia Melvin in a show being called âPublic Connections.â Both artists observe the duality of human connections, which can be complex as well as simple.
The exhibit is on view to November 10. An opening reception will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29, from 4 to 6 pm.
Virginia Zimmermann works by delving into the individual identity of her subjects. She paints so her subjects reveal something of their identity to viewers. She gathers snapshots from her memories and paints them. The viewer is then taken on a private journey with the artist. These works have a narrative quality.
Patricia Melvin paints urban scenes with the plein aire technique, meaning she paints directly outdoors as opposed to painting in her studio.
She began out-of-door painting while living in Amsterdam. Now living in Manhattanâs Lower East Side, she captures the vitality, excitement and changing nature of New York City streets, cafes and parks.
Beaux Arts Gallery and Miller Frame Studio is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and Sunday by appointment. The gallery is at 16 Sherman Hill Road. It can be reached by calling 203-263-3939.
