Edith McKane

Edith McKane, 96, formerly of Norman Street, Bridgeport, died September 17 at Ashlar of Newtown. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Angelotti and Mae Hein of Sandy Hook.

She was born August 17, 1905, in Pearl River., N.Y., daughter of the late Willis and Nettie (Brower) De Baun. Edith was a longtime Bridgeport resident; she had resided at Ashlar for the past two and a half years. She was a retired crossing guard for the Bridgeport School System, which she did for many years.

Edith is also survived by two sons, Frank McKane of Seymour and Edward G. McKane of Danbury; four other daughters, Margaret Shimko of Naugatuck, Edith Webster of Colchester, Mildred Cherkis of Clearwater, Fla., and Elizabeth Reckert of Melbourne, Fla.; one sister, Marion Arsenalt of Fairfield; 30 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her son James McKane predeceased her.

A funeral service in celebration of her life was held September 19 in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Zoar Cemetery, Newtown.
