Support Day Of Caring
BROOKFIELD â On Thursday, September 13, employees from Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) participated in the United Way Day of Caring. The team of employees spend the day working outdoors on landscaping and general maintenance projects at the DATAHR Rehabilitation site located at 156 Longmeadow Road.
âOur employees really enjoy participating in Day of Caring,â said Margo Jackson, CL&P western region community relations manager. âThis is an opportunity for us to become personally involved and to learn first hand about service organizations and how our United Way contributions benefit agencies and provide assistance to people in our communities.â
Connecticutâs first Day of Caring was launched in 1992 at the United Way of the Capital Area. Locally, United Way organizations coordinate the various Day of Caring projects with corporations and agencies that serve their area. Some projects involve preparing and serving at local soup kitchens, reading to children, painting, building renovations, landscaping, and delivering meals to homebound elderly.
CL&P employees have participated in the Day of Caring for several years. Last year employees volunteered at the Womenâs Shelter in Danbury.
