Family Safety Day Planned

NEW MILFORD — The second annual Family Safety Day will be held at New Milford Savings Bank, 291 Danbury Road in New Milford, on Saturday, September 23, from 11 am to 3 pm.

New Milford Saving Bank provided a $1,000 donation to cover the cost of bicycle helmets and literature to be distributed free of charge at this special event. A special treat for children will include appearances by Thrifty Bear, the Bank’s community ambassador.

Parents and their children are invited to come join the fun and visit with many local organizations dedicated to the safety of children. Included will be the American Red Cross, New Milford Police and Fire Departments, and many other exhibitors.

A highlight in the day’s activities will be a car seat safety clinic. Safety specialists will be on hand to examine car seats for proper installation and age/size appropriateness. They will also inspect for damage, recalls, and proper child restraint.

Free KidCare Photo ID Documents with input from law enforcement officials, doctors, health care officials, and parents will be available. The main component of this program is a standardized, high quality instant color photograph of the child. Bike Safety Tips will also be presented as well as poison prevention and playground safety.
