HAWKS 15, ASPETUCK 15: Brendan Reilly preserved the tie by striking out the last batter with the bases loaded and the winning run on third. Early in the game, the Hawks enjoyed two strong innings apiece from Brian Duffy – who displayed fine pickoff moves to the bases – and Seth Hull, who allowed no runs while whiffing five batters. Duffy led the offense by going 2-for-5 with a double and four RBI while Eric Rodriguez had three RBI and three runs scored and Pete Oggeri was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Liam Cawley, Steven Moulthrop, Chris Giorno and Jim Leebaert had good games.

BETHEL 5, HAWKS 4 (9 innings): Newtown scored all of their runs in the first three innings and stayed even with Bethel the rest of the way. David Modzelewski, Seth Hull, Rich Temple and Brendan Reilly all pitched well. Peter Oggeri drove in a pair of runs while Hull was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Bobby Grauer reached base three times. Oggeri played eight strong innings behind the plate to spark the defense, while Liam Cawley was solid at second. Grauer, Cawley and Oggeri hooked up on a relay from right field to prevent a Bethel run.
