To the Editor:

Cullens Youth Association Inc. recently undertook a tag sale at the Newtown Middle School concurrent with the Newtown Labor Day Parade.  I would like to express our genuine gratitude to the many volunteers that assisted in this community awareness and fund raising project. Our thanks in particular to Cat Fedorchek who chaired the project and the Middle School staff that assisted her. The proceeds will assist us in meeting our annual operating expenses.

Cullens does rely on private donations for its operating funds and I do thank those many contributors who have supported this organization over the years. I would also like to acknowledge the Newtown Lions Club which has been a continuing source of encouragement and aid in the delivery of our mission, which is to provide meeting and outdoor activity space to organized youth groups of Newtown. We aim to encourage youth development through the outdoor experience.
