Praise And A Suggestion For The Parade
Praise And A Suggestion
For The Parade
To the Editor:
Iâve been going for about 25 years and must congratulate the organizers of the Labor Day Parade on this yearâs parade. The weather was perfect to enjoy such a coming together of the townspeople and others to make it such a success. I canât imagine the work that goes into preparing and planning such an enormous event. That work paid off this year as well as years past and hopefully in future parades.
I do have one suggestion, however. We all enjoy the antique tractors. This year I watched the parade on Glover Avenue, not Main Street as I have done in the past. It was quite disconcerting to see the gentleman on the big tractor going around in circles on such a narrow street. I was concerned for the children watching and others. I was concerned that if anything went wrong, such as a slip of his hand, throwing a bolt, etc, this could create a disaster. I would think that doing those circles on the tractor is better controlled on Main Street. Glover Avenue is not in the same category and is much too narrow for that âshow.â Please reconsider this show in the future.
Again, kudos to the parade organizers. A job well done.
