John E. Wood, Jr
John Edward Wood, Jr, 76, of Danbury, died on September 9 at Harborside-Glen Hill. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth J. (Evanstock) Wood.
Mr Wood was born on March 2, 1928, in Sandy Hook. He proudly served his country as a corporal in the US Army stationed in Korea and was decorated with the Purple Heart.
A lifelong Danbury resident, Mr Wood was employed by the Danbury Board of Education, retiring from his position as custodian 14 years ago.
He enjoyed going to the Grand Prix Motors garage, building stock car models, and completing jigsaw puzzles.
Besides his devoted wife of 52 years, John is survived by three children, John E. Wood III and his wife Lucy, Jane Joo and her husband Frank; and James Wood, all of Danbury; two grandchildren, Collin and Dylan Wood; and two sisters, Dorothy and Florence Wood.
A memorial service was held September 11 at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
