For Lifetime Literary Achievers
HARTFORD â The Connecticut Center for the Book is seeking nominations for the 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award for Service to the Literary Community. This award will be presented on December 5 in Hartfordâs City Hall at the Third Annual Connecticut Book Awards Ceremony.
The Connecticut Book Awards recognizes and honors authors, illustrators and designers who represent the best books in or about our state.
Individuals nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award should support the purpose of the book awards in having contributed to the world of literature; fostered an interest in books, writing and reading throughout the state; and/or advocated for Connecticutâs literary heritage.
Nominations must include a paragraph outlining how the nominee satisfies these criteria. Additional supporting documents such as a bibliography, a list of awards won, or a website are also appreciated.
Nominations must be postmarked by October 1 and mailed to Kat Lyons c/o CT Center for the Book at Hartford Public Library, 500 Main Street, Hartford CT 06103.
Previous winners were Curbstone Press co-directors Alexander Taylor and Judith Doyle, and Rennie McQuilkin (co-founder, Sunken Garden Poetry Festival).
The Connecticut Center for the Book, winner of the 2002 Boorstin Award for its innovative programming, celebrates books, writers, readers, authors, illustrators, printers and publishers and the literary heritage of the state. The center is an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.
