Melody Mermaid, also known by her “human” name Toni Veteri-Muntz, started the school year on a positive note by visiting C.H. Booth Library for a special back to school story time on Saturday, September 7.

She read The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School by Deborah Diesen to children ages 5-7 and used Pout-Pout’s experiences with school to ask if anyone could relate to certain school situations. She started her company Mermaids & Me, LLC to make appearances at birthday parties, community events, and more, where she plans story times and crafts for children while educating them on emotion regulation, self-advocacy, and more.

The job combines her two loves: mermaids and teaching children. As she says, “everybody needs a mermaid.”
