To the Editor,

My name is Chandravir Ahuja. I was recently appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board of Finance and will run for reelection in November.

Firstly, I would like to thank the NRTC for selecting me and the BOF for confirming my nomination. All board members have been welcoming and I am encouraged by the collaborative spirit present.

At the meeting when confirmed, the First Selectman affirmed my service on the Fairfield Hills Master Plan review committee. I appreciated that and would be remiss in not acknowledging members of that committee.

It was gratifying to be part of a group that worked well together amid vigorous debate. After soaking on a lot of input we came to a strong consensus putting the best interests of Newtown first. That process has led me to put forward my name to serve our town again.

My wife Roberta and I have lived here for over 18 years. Both our sons studied through the Newtown school system. We understand and appreciate the value of our excellent school district.

The affordability and the open spaces of our town were our other motivating factors to move here. We are trying to contribute to the agrarian character of our town, raising five goats and 13 chickens.

I have worked 31 years in the commodity trading area, giving me broad exposure in finance. For the last 15 years I have served on the leadership of the church I attend and am also on their Strategic Finance team.

Having the background and experience for this role, I am committed to learning the issues and listening to the people in town. I whole-heartedly do whatever I am entrusted to and would be grateful to receive your support this election.

Humbly submitted,

Chandravir Ahuja.
