Somber, But Moving, Event
Was Possible Thanks To Many
To the Editor:
On behalf of the officers and members of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company, I would like to thank the public figures and residents who attended our 9/11 10th Anniversary Commemoration event. We had members present from all five volunteer fire companies, the ambulance corps, dive team, dispatch center, and the police. Members of Southbury Volunteer FD, one of our mutual aid companies, also attended.
Kevin Cragin, chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners, did a wonderful job of emceeing the event. Thank you to town Selectman Will Rodgers, State Rep Chris Lyddy, Monsignor Robert Weiss from St Rose, and Newtown PD Captain Joe Rios for speaking at our event.Â
Kaitlyn Bogue, a WestConn student, did a terrific job of singing for us. Thank you to Kathy Cragin for typing and printing the program that was passed at the event. Also, thank you to Maureen Will for allowing the FD members to park on her lawn.
Last but certainly not least, thank you to Eunice from Bagel Delight and Jeff from Dunkinâ Donuts for their donations of bagels, coffee, and donuts.
I hope all who attended found the event has beautiful and moving has we did.
