Prismatic Magic Brings Laser Show To Hawley Students
By Eliza Hallabeck
Hawley Elementary School Lead Teacher Chris Breyan welcomed students to the first assembly of the school year on Friday, September 9, before he introduced Jamie Gannon of Prismatic Magic.
Mr Breyan said the presentation supported the school districtâs core character attributes.
âThis show is so cool,â said Mr Gannon, âyou will not want to miss a second of it.â
Before starting the presentation, which highlighted how to work as a team and the importance of communication along with other attributes, Mr Gannon explained the word âlaserâ is actually an acronym for âlights, amplification, stimulated, emissions, radiation.â
When working with a team, Mr Gannon told the students, âYou can reach goals you would never have been able to reach yourself.â
As one demonstration of how important it is to work as a team, Mr Gannon had two teams of one student and one teacher work together to set off a light that was activated by a laser being pointed in its direction. The teacher operated the light, while blindfolded, and the student told the teacher in which direction to move the light.
Mr Gannon said the exercise proved how important it is to communicate, because without good communication the teachers would not have been able to point the laser in the correct direction.
Other aspects of the laser show highlighted topics such as respect. Mr Gannon also taught the students how to use sign language to say âdo the right thing.â
The Prismatic Magic laser show was sponsored by Hawley Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
