Open Meeting

The September 20 open meeting will be held at 7:30 pm on the lower level of The Newtown Meeting House, across from the flagpole on Main Street. The meeting will feature a discussion on “Managing Equine Risk & Exposure” with Ronald Hocutt, an equine insurance specialist with Farm Family Casualty Insurance Company.

With more than 35 years of experience with horses and 18 years in the insurance industry, Hocutt brings a unique and refreshing perspective to the complex business of equine insurance. He also owns and operates a 15-stall boarding facility, so he practices what he preaches. Hocutt is passionate about avoiding the risks that put horse owners and businesses in jeopardy while helping to keep insurance costs affordable.

The topic will include straight talk on equine insurance, a necessity for private horse owners, trainers, vets, stables, farms, and barns. He will also speak about the myths and misconceptions of equine ownership and adequate personal coverage.

Therapy Clinic

On September 25, at 11 am, the NBLA will hold an Equine CranioSacral Therapy Clinic with Karen Partisch, LMT at Happy Trails Farm located at 36 Mountainville Road in Danbury.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch, complementary method of hands-on body work. CST works with the unique rhythm of the CranioSacral system to pinpoint and address dysfunctions at their source and allows the body to naturally self correct. Some of the many conditions in which Equine CranioSacral Therapy has proven beneficial are lameness, bolting/shying, abscesses, pre and post surgery, Founder/Laminitis and cribbing.

Come learn how this light touch therapy can help your horse. The clinic will start with a talk on CST and then include a treatment or two. As a courtesy to the hosting barn, the NBLA requests RSVP at newtownhorses@charter.net or 203-791-4853.
