NVCC Offers Nursing Program
WATERBURY â Those interested in applying for the fall 2006 nursing program at Naugatuck Valley Community College have until September 26 to register for one of five prequalifying exams offered on campus.
The National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Test is a requirement for anyone planning to apply for NVCCâs nursing program. Students have until September 26 to register for the October 26 exam being held on campus.
There is a $35 nonrefundable fee to take the test and registration forms are available at the admissions office, online at www.nvcc.commnet.edu/admissions/testing.shtml, or by calling Beverly Niwinski at 203-596-8746. Students must have an NVCC student ID number to register.
In addition to passing the exam, students must also have completed the following courses within the last five years, with a minimum grade of C, to be eligible for the nursing program: intermediate algebra; anatomy and physiology I and II; and chemistry with a laboratory component. Prospective students who have not yet completed necessary prerequisites may contact the admissions office at 203-575-8054 to find out how to register for the courses needed to prepare for the nursing program.
The National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Test will also be offered at NVCC on November 12, December 1, and January 5. The deadlines to register for each exam are 30 days prior to the testing date, or October 12, November 1, and December 5, respectively.
Graduates of NVCCâs two-year RN program earn 30 credits in general education and 30 credits in nursing, which are transferable toward a bachelorâs degree. Applications for the nursing program itself will be available October 1 and must be submitted by January 15.
NVCC serves 35 communities across western Connecticut from Litchfield to Waterbury to Seymour to Danbury. Its 110-acre, main campus is located off Exit 18 on Interstate 84.
