NCC Offers Parenting And Confirmation Classes

The Reverend Lee Moore, interim pastor at Newtown Congregational Church, will offer a parenting course on Monday evenings from 7 until 9 beginning September 19 and ending October 24. The course will be offered to the public in the Great Room of the Congregational Church on West Street.

Space is limited, and reservations are require by calling the church at 426-9024. There is a $15 fee per parent’s manual.

Rev Moore will be using Systematic Training For Effective Parenting, a program he has worked with for the past 25 years. It focuses on building healthy relationships between parents and children and offers practical help for parents on how to deal with most of the dilemmas that can arise. It is preventive in nature and is designed to help raise children who can function well throughout the rest of their growing up years and on into adulthood.

Separately, ninth graders and their parents are invited to learn about the Confirmation Class of 2005-2006. An informational meeting will be held on Sunday, October 23, from 7 until 8:50 pm.

 Both Revs Moore and Janice Touloukian will be teaching the course along with the deacons and former confirmands, who will act as mentors. Classes begin Wednesday, October 26, from 5 until 6:30 pm. Contact the church office to register for this class.
