LZA Seeks Newtown Member

Howard Saag and Robert “Mickey” Hare were honored recently for their years of service on the Lake Zoar Authority.

Mr Saag was one of the founding members of the LZA. He served as president for many years; Mr Hare as treasurer. Both men, who are Monroe residents, donated many hours of their time on various committees.

The LZA is looking for new members: three from the town of Monroe and one from Newtown, to fill the position formerly held by Anthony D’Angelo. The authority representatives from Southbury and Oxford are at full strength. Anyone who is interested in serving on the authority should contact the first selectman of their town. Terms are for three years and are unsalaried.

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Southbury Town Hall. The public is invited to attend.

William J. Soracin, a Newtown member on the authority, reported that Northeast Generation will hold its annual draw-down of the lake October 21–30.
