Joan C. âJoniâ Rotante, 71, a Norwalk resident for the past five years and also a Stamford resident for many years, died September 9, at the Richard Rosenthal Hospice Residence. She was born September 7, 1934. She was the daughter of Jerry and Nellie Deformato Tota.
Mrs Rotante was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Rotante, the musician. She is survived by her sons, Jerry S. Rotante and his wife, Linda, of Newtown, John R. Rotante and his wife, Mary Kay, of Norwalk; her grandchildren, Nicole, Melanie, Melissa, and Christopher. She is also survived by a sister, Marie Rotante and her husband, Ralph, of Stamford; and one brother, Joseph Tucker and his wife, Elaine, of Clinton; her nephews, Dr James Stratoudiakis, Jr, Ralph Rotante, Jr, Curtis Tota; and a niece, Rusty Dugan; and many dear friends.
She worked as a secretary at St Maurice Church in Stamford for 13 years. Mrs Rotante was a very religious, caring, generous, loving woman, and enjoyed cooking. In the last five years of her life she spent quality time with her grandchildren while battling kidney disease and other medical aliments. Her legacy for those that were close to her will be remembered by her spirit of giving unselfishly and never expecting anything in return. May the angels in heaven carry her soul to God in everlasting peace.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private at a date to be determined by family. Arrangements are made under the direction of the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford.
