Nuvance Health — formerly Western Connecticut Health Network, which now operates by Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital and Norwalk Hospital — is experiencing issues with its phone lines this morning.
The issue is apparently region-wide, affected customers of Frontier Communications.
According to a notice shared with The Newtown Bee, Nuvance Health “is continuing to work with our vendor to resolve an inbound phone call issue affecting our Danbury, New Milford and Norwalk hospitals, as well as our medical practices in that area. We are fully open and keeping patient appointments — no services are canceled as a result of this phone issue.”
FOR THE HOSPITALS, three alternate main phone numbers have been set up:
*To contact Danbury and New Milford hospitals, call 203-749-9200; and
*For Norwalk Hospital, call 203-899-5400.
FOR THE MEDICAL PRACTICES: If a medical practice main number does not work, call one of the alternate phone numbers above, and the operators will transfer callers to their individual practice.
“We appreciate your patience as we work to correct the issue,” the notice also stated.
C.H. Booth Library is additionally having issues with its phone lines, according to an e-mail blast from the library Wednesday afternoon.
"Due to the regionwide outage," the notice stated, "our phone lines are not working at the moment."
Those who need assistance are encouraged to contact the library by e-mailing help@chboothlibrary.org or visiting chboothlibrary.org and clicking on Ask a Librarian, the small white pop-up box with red lettering and a logo that appears along the lower right side of the home page.
Maureen Will, the director of Newtown Emergency Communications Center, told The Newtown Bee today that the dispatch center within Newtown Police Department is not affected by the outage. Calls to dispatch are being received and handled without issue.
