To the Editor:

I’m Ed Randall, and I’m asking you to return me to the Board of Assessment Appeals.

It was my good fortune to move to Newtown in 1985. As a widowed single parent, raising my children here, I was aided by our fabulous schools, and by the help of so many of the kind families of Newtown. Now that my “kids” are big and beautiful, I’ve been able to give back to this great community. I’ve served twice on the Board of Assessment Appeals, and learned a lot about the process. Selling real estate, building onto my home, and fixing cars have all helped me understand real and personal property values, and my 40 years as a classroom teacher, listening and solving problems, gave me the skills to help others resolve their assessment issues.

I’m lucky to be running with an outstanding slate of candidates. Dan Cruson knows and understands Newtown; he was born and raised here. He has a home, a business, and a family, with children in our schools. While on the Board of Education, he’s served on almost every committee, and worked to keep partisan movements out of Board of Education decisions. We need our leaders to focus on Newtown. Dan Cruson and the candidates running with him will work for you, and won’t get caught up in national political obsessions. We need leaders who are all about Newtown: our schools, our streets, our security and smart development.

I would be honored to be voted back to the Board of Assessment Appeals. If so, I would use every method available to solve your assessment issues, without preconceived notions or partisanship.

The election is on November 7; please vote!

And please vote for Ed Randall for the Board of Assessment Appeals.

Ed Randall
