Summer Ball Season Culminates With All Star And Championship Games

The Rising Star Summer Basketball League concluded its season with an All Star game and playoffs at Dickinson Park this past week.

UCLA defeated North Carolina 64-61 in the championship game. UCLA was led by Mason Melillo (20 points) and Dillon Palumbo (21 points). Matt Elias, Joe Duero, and Nick Rohrbacher are all freshmen who were standouts.

NC was down by 14, and made a great comeback led Ryan Szalay with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Ryan Escoda contributed 14, hitting four 3-pointers during the run for NC. Mike Roche had a very good final game, grabbing eight rebounds, and playing strong defense. Danny McCarthy and the Chernoff brothers had a very good summer.
