Robert S.       Dean

Robert S. “Bucky” Dean, 78, of the Hawleyville section of Newtown, died peacefully September 7, surrounded by loved ones, at his home. He was born in Sandy Hook, March 3, 1934, to Hilda (Hanlon) and Birdsey Dean.

Mr Dean was stationed in Germany as a member of United States Army.

“Bucky” was proud to be a dedicated member of the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire company and a lifelong Yankees fan. He was an avid card player, and also loved to read books.

He is survived by his devoted wife Lilla (Parson) Dean and three children, Alan and his companion Maria, Douglas Dean and his wife Elisabeth and Laura Reiske and her husband Ronald. Nine grandchildren; his sister Ruthann Hensel of Newtown; and numerous cousins also survive him. Mr Dean was predeceased by his brothers Arthur, Richard, Charles, and William; and one grandson.

A gathering took place at the Hawleyville Firehouse on Route 25 in Hawleyville, September 10.

The Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, assisted the family.
