Letter Of Endorsement
To the Editor:
As a parent of children in the Newtown Public Schools, I enthusiastically support Lisa Romano for Newtown State Representative, to succeed Chris Lyddy. Lisaâs dedication to our schools can be measured in three ways: academically, vocationally, and civically. Lisa is a masterâs degree level educator, and holds Connecticut certification in social studies. She has worked in Connecticut public schools as a tutor, educational assistant, and substitute teacher. She has also volunteered extensively in classrooms helping children with reading, and as a room parent. Right now, there are only two women with school-age children in the Connecticut General Assembly. We need a strong voice to stand up for our children, someone who has seen the inside of our schools and who has seen what teachers need to do their jobs, and what children need to succeed.
I believe Lisaâs passion for education stems from her drive to learn, to ask questions, to understand concerns, measure data, and seek well-researched conclusions. These are the same qualities which have made her a thorough journalist and real estate agent. Whether she is advocating for her clients, students, her own children â or Newtown â you can be sure she will do so as an investigator, a life-long learner. She will vote after careful due diligence, and she will innovate because of her search for the most judicious and creative answers. Lisa has the energy and the knowledge to look for ways to improve our schools, and will seek out ways to accomplish this while keeping costs down. This is why I am asking you to vote on November 6 for Lisa Romano as Newtownâs next state representative.
